What is Freedom?
Freedom, for me, is having the ability to walk away from something that you may want, and be content without having it.
Freedom is the ability to go after something, without having any emotional need for the outcome.
Freedom is the ability to do whatever you want to do, whenever.
Why is freedom so attractive?
Why is freedom so attractive? Because as human beings, we feel the need to explore, to create and to express ourselves freely and without constraint.
A constraint can come in many forms. For example, your relationship can constrain you. Your ego can constrain you (fear of looking a certain way). Your identity can constrain you – ‘I’m not the type of person who does that’. You can be constrained financially – for example, you want to go somewhere, but financially you cannot afford it.
All of these things inhibit us with fear and stop us from breaking out of our shells into the fullest manifestation of our true self.
The truth is, however, that none of us have the answers. We are all mortal beings and are going to leave this reality at some eventual point.
And with this realisation, we are freed to let go of the outcomes of life. Let go of the idea of success, or needing to do anything. The stress is replaced with a feeling of inner peace. That is freedom.
On Your Own Clock
Remember, you are living life on your own clock. It is never wise to look at what other people are doing around you. They are not you, and you are not them. Therefore, how can you compare yourself to them?
I believe fully that we each have our own calling – our own dharma. With this dharma, it is like a destiny ahead of us that we have to fulfill.
For some people, they might find their calling or their dharma at a very young age. For others, it might be at a later age.
The truth is, never is it wise for you to compare yourself to others because they have their path laid out ahead of them. It is not for you to force or try to imitate their path, because this wouldn’t be authentic, and will delay you finding your own unique dharma.
And because we are all one, and infinite with the entire universe, all of our paths are leading to the same place anyway.
At the end of the day, we all have our own roles to play in the world.
Sound crazy to you? Yeah, I’m surprised that this is writing this too…
Follow Your Path
If you feel lost right now, the advice I would give is to follow your intuition. What feels right?
Let go of money and fame – for now at least. Let go of the illusion of completion. Don’t wait for things to change in your external world. Don’t calculate ‘What would be the best way to make the most money?” Just start and role with the hunches.
Eventually, the more you follow your intuition, the more the patterns in your life will start to make sense. The more you will understand yourself. Things will start happening slowly, and life will be moving in a better direction.
This is because you are being guided by your inner feelings. Your inner feelings and intuition are connected to something much greater than we can fathom. We are trained from a young age to drown out and suppress the inner voice, which is why many people feel so alienated from themselves and their creativity.
But slowly, as you begin to welcome the voice back in, things will make sense. You will feel aligned and things will happen more naturally.
You will feel free because you are on your own unique path. As JAY Z once said ‘My life is tailor-made for me.” That will be you.
